"EK" - An English Musical on the Life of Shirdi Sai Baba

Natyalaya School of Dance, Austin’s premier school of Bharathanatyam, and  Sri Shirdi Sai temple of Austin are co-sponsoring  a unique production. EK, is the first English musical on the life of Shirdi Sai. Vision. Script and lyrics are authored by poet Usha Akella.

Ek-Shirdi Sai baba

Envisioned with a large cast and elaborate stage production, the musical aims to render the Saint’s life in Shirdi with a contemporary flavor that is both devotional and entertaining.  The musical will include a wide scope of flavors from Broadway to India’s vast soundscape.  Austin’s own Sai temple is witness to the fervent devotion of this generation to Shirdi Sai. The aim of the production is to bring home the essential teaching of Baba - UNITY.

Any net profits will be donated to the Austin Sai Temple Community Hall and Hanuman Temple building fund (2012 design work and start of construction).

Each year, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Shirdi Sai Baba Temple, the Austin Temple distributes tens of thousands of free meals to the hungry in India.
